Per our XrayVision Version 4 Sunset Announcement, our legacy registration server is offline as of June 1st, 2023. This means that the traditional way that Apteryx was able to "reset" a license is no longer an option, and instead, we are able to convert legacy XrayVision 4, DataGrabber, and XrayVision DCV/XVCapture customers (including rebrands) to use our Token Licensing system.
As for our XrayVision 3 and XVLite legacy products, those products are not eligible for the conversion to Token licensing as they have known data loss issues in Windows 10+. It is highly recommended that you migrate off of these legacy products as quickly as possible in order to preserve data integrity for these no longer supported products.
How does Token Registration work?
Token Registration works like this: if you have purchased 12 licenses for XrayVision 4, then we will generate a Token license for you including 12 licenses. When you launch the software, your PC will contact our Token Registration server and reserve one of those 12 licenses for that PC for up to 24 hours, provided they are not all in use. After 24 hours, that Token provided for that PC will expire and will require you to launch the software again to request and reserve a new Token Registration license for 24 hours.
A few common actions that can cause issues for you are listed below:
- Replacing a PC
- Renaming a PC
- Changing the IP address of a PC
- Not setting a Static IP on PCs taking images
- Replacing any networking device
- Changing ISPs
- Having an ISP outage
- Mobile PCs, such as Laptops or Tablets, switching between WiFi networks
If you experience any issues regarding an "Out of Tokens" error the next time you launch the software, you have three options available.
1. You may wait 24 hours for the license to automatically expire and retry launching the application.
2. You may submit a support ticket requesting that your licenses be "reset" manually by our Support team.
3. Although rare, you may submit a support ticket if you suspect the issue is due to changing networks with a mobile laptop/tablet (last bullet point above). There is a setting in XVCapture/DCV our support team can modify to allow you to freely change between networks, provided that those managing your PCs have set a static IP on the PC.
Resetting Tokens
In order to reset your tokens, we will need to know the Registration number you are using in your install of the software. The easiest way to grab this is to navigate to the directory where our software is installed and opening the "ApteryxINI.INI" file. Next to "RegNum" will be a 24 character Registration Number. Please provide us with that number in order for us to provide the quickest resolution.
Finding Apteryx installation directories is fairly simple. One option is to right click>open file location on the desktop shortcut. For advanced users, you may also navigate to the Registry entry by launching Registry Editor and navigating to the Registry Key shown below. You can then navigate to the listed folder to find your Apteryx installation directory.
If neither of these methods work, then you may be bridging from a Practice Management software that has a different installation path listed in their bridge settings. Contacting their Support team to find the location they are launching Apteryx from would be the best next step.
If you have any questions regarding Token licenses, please Submit a Support Ticket so that our Support team can promptly assist you!
