The following guide will provide the steps to set the default settings for accepted image quality using the Tuxedo A-Series sensors. If integrating into one of the Planet DDS / Apteryx imaging software, click on the appropriate software listed below to expand software specific steps for accessing the Tuxedo A-Series settings. If using a TWAIN, please follow this link to jump to the TWAIN Settings and click on the section to expand for TWAIN specific instructions.
XVLite
Assuming all necessary steps have been performed from the guide #, please follow these steps to access the Tuxedo A-Series image quality options:- From the main page of XVLite, select Preferences from the left-hand menu [this may require scrolling down the left-hand menu].
- Click on the Sensor option from the left-hand menu.
- Double click on TuxedoASeries under Digital X-ray Sensor Settings.
- Continue to the Tuxedo A-Series image quality settings.
XrayVision
Assuming all necessary steps have been performed from the guide #, please follow these steps to access the Tuxedo A-Series image quality options:- Go to the Tools menu at the top of the program and select Hardware Options
- Double click on TuxedoASeries.
- Continue to the Tuxedo A-Series image quality settings.
XVCapture/DCV
Assuming all necessary steps have been performed from the guide #, please follow these steps to access the Tuxedo A-Series image quality options:- Go to the XVCapture/DCV main screen and click Advanced User Tools in the lower left. Click on Preferences and input the default password AKRON. Select Imaging Extensions down in the blue section on the left and click on the little red arrow (>) next to Digital X-ray Image Capture. Click on TuxedoASeries Digital X-ray.
- Continue to the Tuxedo A-Series image quality settings...
Once within the Tuxedo A-Series settings, follow these steps to apply the necessary image quality values:
- Match the settings under the General tab to those below:
Capture Depth 16-bit capture
Apply image filtering checked
Adaptive Normalize checked
Median Blur - Mask Size 3x3
Sharpen Mask - Mask Size 19x19 - Factor 15
Gauss Blur - Mask Size 3x3
Unsharpen Mask unchecked
*If the image is not sharp enough, increasing the Sharpen Mask Factor from 15 to 25 may provide a suitable image quality - If images still appear too light, return to the Tuxedo A-Series options and click on the Modify Post Capture Filters button (or GBC tab if in XrayVision/XVLite). Set Gamma Correction to office preference.
(lower = darker, commonly set to 0.40 or 0.80) - Click OK button(s) until back to software main screen, the filter is now applied on this PC, the previous steps should be repeated on all workstations, as these settings are PC specific and do not automatically carry over from computer to computer.
TWAIN Settings
Image quality settings within the Tuxedo A-Series TWAIN is limited, as some settings are designed to be handled by the imaging software that will be managing the stored x-rays. What settings are available have been listed below to provide the best starting point for the default Tuxedo A-Series image quality:- With the TWAIN open, select Options.
(If an error populates stating the user does not have correct permissions, close the TWAIN.
Find and open the appropriately named TWAIN folder under C:\Windows\twain_32\ and right-click on the TWAIN Interface found there. Select Run as administrator and try again.) - Click on TWAIN Options on the left-hand side and verify the settings shown in the images below:
- Click on Digital Sensor on the left-hand side and verify the settings shown in the images below:
- Click on OK to save the settings, the filter is now applied on this PC, the previous steps should be repeated on all workstations, as these settings are PC specific and do not automatically carry over from computer to computer.
