Images display correctly in XVCapture, but are out of order in XVWeb
Behavior:
When viewing a series within XVCapture, the images are displayed in their proper tiles, but when viewing the same series in XVWeb, some images appear underneath the layout, display in a grid, are scrambled, or appear to be displaying in the incorrect layout.
All cases of this behavior are due to some form of disparity between the layout used in XVCapture and the available layouts in XVWeb. XVWeb utilizes the captured images' tooth associations to determine what layout to display the images in, and modality to determine what layouts can be used.
A few common example causes and solutions are as follows:
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Images were captured in a layout that exists in XVCapture, but the same layout does not exist in XVWeb
This causes the images to automatically display in the wrong layout or within a grid in XVWeb due to a lack of a matching layout.
Example: A custom 6 Bitewing 4 PA layout was created and used in XVCapture. Note the layout is in the correct order and format: When viewing the same series in XVWeb, the layout appears out of order:
This is because a layout matching the layout created and used in XVCapture does not exist in XVWeb. Note a 6 BW 4 PA layout does not exist on the right when navigating to Layouts > Edit. Creating a 6 BW 4 PA layout that matches the layout used in XVCapture resolves this example. Please refer to Creating Custom Layouts - XVWeb for instructions on creating a layout that matches the one used in XVCapture.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The tiles in the matching layout in XVWeb are assigned a modality different from the image type that was captured
(e.g. the images captured in XVCapture were assigned IO modality, but the tiles in the matching layout in XVWeb have the modality XC assigned to them instead of IO)
Example: A custom 6 Bitewing 4 PA layout was created and used in XVCapture. Note the layout is in the correct order and format:
When viewing the same series in XVWeb, the layout appears out of order, even though a matching layout with the same tooth associations exists:
Note that when clicking an image and selecting Info from the right-toolbar, the modality of the image is listed as IO:
Note that when navigating to Layouts > Edit > 6BW 4 PA to review the existing layout, the tiles are set to a modality of XC.This is the cause of the layout not being used when viewing this series, as the tiles' modalities are different from the images' modalities. Changing all tiles to IO modality (to match the modality of the images) or creating a duplicate layout with IO modality tiles instead of XC modality resolves the issue in this example. Please refer to Editing Layouts - XVWeb for instructions on modifying the modality of your layout to match the modality of the acquired images.

The matching layout in XVWeb does not have the exact same tooth associations as the layout used in XVCapture
Ensure both layouts have matching tooth associations.
Example: A custom 6 Bitewing 4 PA layout was created and used in XVCapture. Note the layout is in the correct order and format: When viewing the same series in XVWeb, the layout appears out of order, even though a 6 BW 4 PA layout exists:
Note that when navigating to Layout > Edit > 6BW 4PA to review the layout, one of the bitewing tile's tooth associations do not match the tooth associations of the image that belongs in that tile:
This is the cause of the images displaying incorrectly, as the tooth associations of each tile in the layout do not match the tooth associations of each image captured. Updating that tile's tooth association to match the image's tooth association (5,6,27,28) resolves this example.
If needing to edit an existing layout or tiles within the layout to match the XVCapture layout's tooth associations, refer to Editing Layouts - XVWeb.

The tiles in XVWeb's layout are not in the correct positions
If the tiles in the created layout in XVWeb are not in the correct places, the images will display incorrectly even if all tooth associations and modalities are matching.
Example: A custom 6 Bitewing 4 PA layout was created and used in XVCapture. Note the layout is in the correct order and format: When viewing the same series in XVWeb, the layout appears out of order, even though a 6 BW 4 PA layout exists:
Note that when navigating to Layout > Edit > 6BW 4PA to review the layout, all tiles have matching tooth associations and modalities, but the tiles themselves are not in the correct places:
This is the cause of the images displaying incorrectly. Dragging and dropping the tiles to their correct positions resolves this example.

A partial series was captured
(e.g. 7-9 images out of an FMX-18 on only one side of the patient's mouth)
This can cause XVWeb to display the images in a layout other than an FMX-18 due to a combination of tooth associations and number of images matching with a different layout.
To resolve, use the Layout > Place tool in XVWeb to reorganize the images into the preferred layout.
- If the images continue to display the same way after using Layout > Place, Layout > View will need to be used instead. This is not a permanent change, and only affects how the images are displayed while actively viewing them.

Converted or imported images display in a grid instead of a layout
Behavior:
When viewing a series of images that were converted from a previous imaging software, or a series of images that were manually imported, the images display without order in a grid format.
Causes:
- The converted or imported images are missing tooth associations.
- The imported images were imported as a group of single images, or imported into a layout that does not have tooth associations and/or instance numbers.
Solutions:
- Converted or imported images that are missing tooth associations will need to be manually placed into a layout in order to assign them tooth associations. This is done by using the Layout > Place tool to place the images into the preferred layout, which also updates the images' tooth associations:
- View the converted or imported images that are displaying in a grid format instead of a layout. Note the images currently do not have any tooth associations, as they were imported as a group of single images:
- Navigate to Layout > Place from the right-hand toolbar
- Select the layout you'd like to assign your images to from the drop-down at the top, then drag each image into the tile you'd like the image to belong in:
- Once all images have been assigned to their proper tiles, click Save:
- You'll be taken back to view the series automatically. Note the images now display correctly, and are now assigned their proper tooth associations:
- View the converted or imported images that are displaying in a grid format instead of a layout. Note the images currently do not have any tooth associations, as they were imported as a group of single images:
- If importing images into a layout, ensure the layout you are importing the images into contains tooth associations. If no tooth associations are needed (e.g. for an ortho layout), ensure the layout has progression instance numbers assigned, which will tell XVWeb which tiles to place the images into based on order.
- Refer to Editing Layouts - XVWeb for instructions on changing or adding tooth associations or adding progression instance numbers.
