The XVWeb Interop is a term used for the 2 components that enable the ability for users to interact with the capture program from the XVWeb image view screen. The Interop serves as a direct bridge between XVWeb and your capture program.
A brief summary can also be found here in the XVWeb users guide (Page 8).
Requirements
- Internet browser in use must be Firefox, Edge, or Chrome
- Internet browser fully up to date
- XVCapture/DCV (or rebrand) installed on the computer or local network share
- User Privilege: 'Capture / Import'
How to Check if it is installed
- Log in to your XVWeb site.
- A colored dot will appear to the left of your username in the top right.
Green=Installed
Yellow=Partially installed
Red=Not Installed
How to Install it
- In XVWeb, click the colored dot in the upper right next to your username.
- Install both the browser extension and XVWeb Bridge components
- Refresh your browser and verify the dot has turned green
- Launch XVCapture.exe as admin (from root directory or from desktop shortcut) once to inject necessary registry entries, then close it
How to Use it
On the query screen a new button will appear, labeled "XVCapture." This button will open XVCapture and automatically bridge over the patient information specified in the search fields:
Additionally, in the view images screen there will be 4 new options on the right hand toolbar:
Select one of the options to immediately proceed to capture images for your open patient, or select the application(s) icon to open the capture program and bridge over the patient's information.
Common Issues
Interop dot is green (fully installed) and Capture button appears, however clicking it does nothing
- Locate XVCapture.exe (either from root directory or from desktop shortcut) > Right-Click > Run as Admin. Close the program once it launches, refresh XVWeb, then test the Capture button again.
Capture buttons launch the incorrect application, or multiple "apps" show up within XVWeb
- In XVWeb, navigate to the Applications menu (click username in top-right corner > Applications)
- If Applications is not a selectable option, you will need to log out of the currently signed in XVWeb user and log back in as an Admin user.
- Remove all listed applications (click on an app > delete - repeat for all listed applications)
- If the Add, Edit, and Delete buttons are missing in this section, you will need to log out of the currently signed in XVWeb user and log back in as an Admin user in order to proceed.
- Open the Registry Editor (Win + S > Registry Editor)
- Navigate to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Apteryx and delete the folder named ApplicationFullPaths
- Launch XVCapture.exe as admin (from root directory or from desktop shortcut) once to re-inject necessary registry entries, then close it
- Refresh your browser - the interop should now launch the correct application, and only one application should be listed in the Applications menu
- Repeat the above steps for each workstation affected by this issue
Interop icon remains yellow and CMD prompts appear when attempting to bridge or when accessing XVWeb
If you see the below occur (yellow interop icon, blank CMD prompt appears) when accessing XVWeb after installing the interop:
And after hitting enter a few times, the CMD prompt populates with the following:
This is caused by XVWeb.Bridge.exe (found under C:\ProgramData\Apteryx\XVWeb) being set to “Run this program as administrator.” This exe cannot be run as administrator for any reason, and the only way to resolve the above is to disable the setting to “run this program as administrator” within the exe’s properties menu.
