- If an error like the one below populates when attempting to capture, It means that this PC does not have the drivers needed for that hardware. (Planmeca will be used as an example for the rest of this guide, though the error can be for any hardware.)
- There are three fixes for this, depending on the relationship between the hardware and the PC. If this PC needs to access the hardware listed, continue to Step 3.
If this PC does not need to access the hardware listed, but other PCs at this office still do, continue to Step 4.
If the hardware listed is no longer going to be used at this office, then continue to Step 5. - In order for this PC to access the hardware listed, the driver program needs to be installed. The “Driver” is a program made by the hardware manufacturer that allows Windows to communicate with the physical equipment. This program needs to be retrieved from the manufacturer, either from their website, or by calling them directly.
- *As a reminder, the hardware that Apteryx is responsible for drivers are the Tuxedo and TuxedoA sensors. All other drivers should be retrieved by the dental office contacting the hardware manufacturer.*
- Since this PC does not require access to the listed hardware, we can disable XVCapture from attempting to find that hardware locally. The following steps will only affect the computer they are performed on. If the above error is happening on multiple PCs that do not need to use the aforementioned hardware, these steps will need to be repeated on those PCs as well.
- With XVCapture open to the main screen, click Advanced User Tools in the lower left. Then select Preferences and input the admin password (default password is AKRON)
- Select Imaging Extensions at the lower left.
- Scroll down the right hand side until you see a section entitled Enable/Disable Imaging Extensions and click the big blue button that says Enable/Disable Imaging Extensions.
- Uncheck the hardware listed from the error within the pop-up window, then click OK until back at the XVCapture main screen.
- With XVCapture open to the main screen, click Advanced User Tools in the lower left. Then select Preferences and input the admin password (default password is AKRON)
- This hardware is no longer going to be used at this office? Then we need to make this hardware not an option for XVCapture. If XVCapture is installed on your server, these steps only need to be taken once (after every instance of XVCapture running from that server is closed). If XVCapture is locally installed, these steps will need to be taken on every computer that shows the previous error message.
- Make sure XVCapture is closed (everywhere if a server install)!
- Right click on XVCapture desktop icon and click Open File Location, or open Windows Explorer to the XVCapture folder (the path was listed in the error).
- Click the column name Type to sort the list for easily finding the file in question.
- Find the file that was listed in the error (for this example, it was Planmeca.IXDLL)
- Right click on the file, and select Delete from the pop-up menu.
- For the sake of caution, click the refresh button (shown below) and see if you can find the file you just deleted. If the file pops back after a refresh, XVCapture was open somewhere and it was not deleted. Make sure XVCapture is closed everywhere and try these steps again.
