The steps listed below will help walk you through the process of importing single images and importing into layouts using the XVCapture/DCV software.

If the images being imported are in the DICOM format, jump to step 8. If the images being imported are 3D, please see our article on Importing 3D Images
- Importing common file types (JPG, JPEG, TIFF, etc...) requires the Image Importer extension on every installation of XVCapture/DCV. If this has already been installed, skip to Step 2.
- Make sure all instances of XVCapture/DCV is closed for this installation.
- Navigate to the Apteryx Update Page anddownload Apteryx - Image Importer
- Install the downloaded file (may require being run as administrator).
- Open XVCapture/DCV.
- If importing common file types (JPG, JPEG, TIFF, etc...), select Capture Images from the main screen.
- Select the desired patient (if not already bridged) and select Capture Images.
- Under General Image Capture, select Image Importer.
- Use the Import Capture window to import the desired image(s).
- If importing individual image(s), select Import.
- Navigate to, and then select, the desired image(s) to import, then click Open.
- If the image(s) is/are not listed as the correct modality, you can click-drag-and-drop the image(s) over the modalities listed at the bottom of the Import Capture window to correct them.
- If importing a layout, select Import Into.
- Click on the folder icon next to the long explanation under the Files To Add Or Import section.
- Navigate to, and then select, the desired images to import (holding the CTRL key while clicking will allow multiple selections), then click Open.
- Select the desired layout template under the Import As section.
- Click on the folder icon next to the long explanation under the Files To Add Or Import section.
- If importing individual image(s), select Import.
- If satisfied with the current import, click Done to push the image(s) back into XVCapture/DCV.
- Importing DICOM images is slightly different, as the DICOM file will have patient information already attached.
- From the main screen of XVCapture/DCV, select Advanced User Tools.
- Click on Import Images.
- Unless prompted to by Technical Support, leave the default settings under Import Images as default. Click OK.
- Point the Path to the folder where the images to import are located (you can browse to the folder using the folder icon to the right of the Path field). Click OK to import the images into XVCapture/DCV.
